Ship Fitters Course

This is an entry level course designed for seafarers that have technical aptitude and would like to progress a career as a ships fitter

Intended Learning Outcome/s

After the training/assessment, the participant/s shall be able to:

• Read a technical drawing
• Sketch a technical drawing
• Determine job related engine materials
• Define metals and welding electrode materials
• Define different metals/materials for lathe fabrication
• Weld soft to high carbon steel materials using electric arc welding
• machine
• Weld special metals/ materials using oxy acetylene gas
• Use metal plastic polymer repair compounds
• Fabricate engine parts
• Overhaul fuel oil injector valve
• Overhaul fuel oil injection pump with variable injection timing (VIT)
• Overhaul cylinder head assembly
• Overhaul turbocharger (TCR18)
