This is an entry level course designed for seafarers that have technical aptitude and would like to progress a career as a ships fitter
Intended Learning Outcome/s
After the training/assessment, the participant/s shall be able to:
- Read a technical drawing
- Sketch a technical drawing
- Determine job related engine materials
- Define metals and welding electrode materials
- Define different metals/materials for lathe fabrication
- Weld soft to high carbon steel materials using electric arc welding
- machine
- Weld special metals/ materials using oxy acetylene gas
- Use metal plastic polymer repair compounds
- Fabricate engine parts
- Overhaul fuel oil injector valve
- Overhaul fuel oil injection pump with variable injection timing (VIT)
- Overhaul cylinder head assembly
- Overhaul turbocharger (TCR18)
