Ship Fitters Course
This entry-level course is designed for seafarers with technical aptitude who would like to progress toward a career as a ship fitter.
It aims to provide ship fitters with knowledge and skills in fabricating engine parts, hot and cold arc welding processes, and applications of welding special materials using oxy-acetylene gas. It includes maintaining diesel engine parts before they join their respective vessel assignments.
Training Outcome/s
After the training, participants must be able to:
- Interpret a technical drawing.
- Use lathe machine in fabricating bolts and flanges.
- Grind a lathe cutting tool.
- Weld using shielded metal arc welding.
- Perform oxyacetylene welding.
- Apply polymer repair compounds.
- Conduct maintenance on 2-stroke fuel oil injection system
- Conduct maintenance on 4-stroke main engine parts.
