Programmable Logic Controllers

The course aims to enhance the knowledge, understanding, and proficiency of engine officers, electrotechnical officers, and electrical personnel in the working principles and function of programmable logic controllers (PLC) necessary to perform the proper and safe operation, maintenance, and repairs of automation, instrumentation, and control systems onboard ships.

Training Outcome/s

After the training, participants must be able to:

• Operate programmable logic controllers properly and safely.
• Install programmable logic controllers in control circuits.
• Download programs into programmable logic controllers.
• Apply programmable logic control on a marine control system.
• Operate computer consoles on PLC-based data networks.
• Perform maintenance and repair of a PLC-based control system.
