Operation and Maintenance of Man 4-Stroke Diesel Engines

The course aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of Marine Engineer Officers in the operation, maintenance and repair of 4-stroke diesel engine.

Intended Learning Outcome/s

After the training/assessment, the participant/s shall be able to:

• Prepare 4 stroke diesel engine for starting
• Start 4 stroke diesel engine in a simulated environment
• Monitor the operation of the 4 stroke diesel engine
• Inspect cylinder head assembly in accordance with manufacturer’s working instructions
• Inspect trunk piston with connecting rod small end in accordance with manufacturer’s working instructions
• Inspect connecting rod big end in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions
• Inspect fuel oil injection system components in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions
• Inspect cylinder liner for wear in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions
