Maritime Resource Management (MRM)

The course aims to minimize the risk of incidents by encouraging safe and responsible behavior and ensuring that available resources are used in the best possible way to accomplish tasks as safely and efficiently as possible.

Training Outcome/s:

After the training, participants must be able to:

• Apply situation awareness in decision-making;
• Increase safety related to human performance limitation issues
• Apply correct attitudes in shipboard resource management
• Explain the need for cultural awareness
• Apply effective communication and briefing in shipboard operation;
• Apply the principle of challenge and response in shipboard resource    management
• Apply short-term strategy in challenging situations
• Use a balanced level of authority and assertiveness on shipboard      resource management
• Respond positively to a different management style for the improvement of interpersonal relationships on board
• Manage the task and workload of the crew on board
• Explain the factors to maintain the state of the ship within acceptable limits
• Avoid exceeding the limits of humans to its allowed performance;
• Explain the policy for responding to and learning from errors;
• Assess the quality of considered information for better judgment and  decision-making
• Explain the characteristics of the different leadership styles in shipboard resource management
• Apply the learning methods for improving the use of automation;
• Explain the strategies for crowd and crisis management.
