Heavy Lift Course
The course aims to provide the deck officers with the comprehensive knowledge in Heavy Lift Cargo Handling And Operation
Intended Learning Outcome/s
After the training/assessment, the participant/s shall be able to:
- Assess the condition for safe loading and discharging of heavy lift cargoes
- Calculate the maximum load per crane when working with dual crane operation
- Calculate the maximum heel during loading and discharging and the effect of stability
- Describe the effects on ship stability when there is shift of center of gravity on the transverse and vertical shift
- Describe the types of crane
- Describe the lifting equipment used in the heavy lift operation
- Produce documents in terms of stability condition
- Calculate the stresses acting on the stowage position and bedding arrangement of the cargo.
- Calculate the forces acting on the cargo during the voyage and lashing arrangement to counter such forces
- Calculate the external forces affecting the cargo utilizing the Advance Calculation Method
- Integrate Colos Stability Computer Program and Stowage Plan
- Discuss the forces acting on the cargo are different stowage position and stresses acting on the securing and lashing arrangement
- Discuss the Toolbox meeting and conduct lifting plan
- Discuss loading and discharging of different types of heavy cargoes in single and tandem crane
