Electro-Technical Officer Competency Evaluation (ETOCE)

This evaluation program aims to determine the present level of knowledge, understanding and skills of electricians and electro-technical personnel in their function as operational level officers in order to establish their readiness for shipboard assignment on their assigned tasks. It covers the specification of minimum standard of competence for electro-technical officers prescribed in Table A-III/6,

  • Function 1: Electrical, Electronic and Control Engineering at the Operational Level; and
  • Function 2: Maintenance and Repair at the Operational Leve of the STCW Code 2010 Manila Amendments.

Intended Learning Outcome/s

After the training/assessment, the participant/s shall be able to:

  • Perform safety procedures;
  • Use PPE properly;
  • Interpret schematic diagrams and drawings; and
  • Use electrical testing tools and instruments.
  • Maintain electrical safety;
  • Monitor the operation of electro-technical equipment;
  • Operate electro-technical equipment; and
  • Test electro-technical equipment.
  • Maintain electrical safety;
  • Perform maintenance procedures on electro-technical equipment;
  • Troubleshoot electro-technical equipment; and
  • Repair electro-technical equipment.
