Basic Electrical Engineering and Troubleshooting (BEET)

This course aims to provide engine personnel with a refresher on the fundamentals of electricity, applications of electrical safety, and proper use of testing and measuring instruments necessary to perform maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of electrical and electronic equipment onboard ships. It provides interactive lectures, hands-on demonstrations, laboratory exercises, circuit simulations, practical exercises, and assessments using industry-relevant tools and equipment.

Intended Learning Outcome/s

After the training/assessment, the participant/s shall be able to:

• Perform electrical safety procedures.
• Use electrical PPE properly.
• Interpret electrical and electronic schematic diagrams.
• Use measuring and testing instruments.
• Monitor the condition of electrical and electronic circuits.
• Operate electrical and electronic equipment.
• Conduct maintenance on electrical and electronic systems.
