Building on the strong collaboration established in April 2024, the United Marine Training Center (UMTC) and Green Marine have further strengthened their partnership through an exclusive agreement for the delivery of the Basic and Advanced Training for Service on Ships Subject to the IGF Code.
A new milestone was formalized during a signing ceremony held on 11 November 2025, attended by UMTC President Tony Galvez and Managing Director Donald Bautista, Green Marine CEO-Engineering Fredrik Stubner, and Managing Director C/E Julian Lopez.
This renewed partnership reinforces both organizations' shared commitment to advancing training solutions that support the maritime industry’s transition to safer, cleaner, and more sustainable fuel technologies. While the initial collaboration focused on Green Marine’s provision of a methanol engine for UMTC’s hands-on training of Methanol Dual Fuel Technology, the new agreement significantly expands the scope of cooperation.
Under this exclusive arrangement, UMTC becomes the only training center partnered with Green Marine to deliver both the Basic and Advanced IGF courses, positioning the center at the forefront of alternative fuel education in the region.
As the global shift toward LNG and other low-flashpoint fuels accelerates, demand for highly trained and certified personnel continues to grow. The strengthened partnership ensures that UMTC remains responsive to this need by integrating Green Marine’s technical expertise with UMTC’s world-class facilities and instructional capabilities.
This collaboration will enable seafarers to gain the essential competencies required to safely operate vessels using alternative fuels, ensuring compliance with international standards and supporting the maritime sector’s broader push toward decarbonization.
