Basic Electrical Engineering and Troubleshooting (BEET)
The courses aim to enhance the competency of engine personnel in the principles of electricity, electrical safety, and proper use of testing and measuring instruments necessary to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical distribution systems, electrical machines, and electronic equipment on board ships.
Training Outcome/s
After the training, participants must be able to:
- Explain the fundamentals of electricity and their applications on board ships.
- Demonstrate the use of appropriate and approved type of shipboard electrical safety tools and personal protective equipment.
- Use appropriate type of electrical testing and measuring instruments for maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Interpret shipboard electrical machine configurations and connections.
- Interpret symbols and schematic diagrams of shipboard electrical and electronic systems.
