The topics presented are intended to represent the practical application of Admiralty Law in current ship and cargo operations, geared towards an updated, keen understanding of the modern ship officer`s legal duties and responsibilities.

  • demonstrate how to work with a Bill of Lading
  • demonstrate how to interpret time and voyage charter parties
  • determine the responsibilities and liabilities of maritime conventions and charter parties
  • explain the required steps necessary for claims and incident handling
  • demonstrate how to prepare a sea protest
  • demonstrate how to prepare a statement of fact
  • explain the York Antwerp Rules
  • determine the York Antwerp Rules regarding salvage operations
