6G Welding Pre-assessment

The program aims to determine the welder’s current competence in 6G welding using the approved welding procedure specification and recommend training enhancement in preparation for the 6G welding trade test for class certification.

Assessment Outcome/s:

  • Determine the current level of skills of a welder by conducting non-destructive testing (visual inspection) of welded joints in the 6G position based on the criteria prescribed in the Competency Evaluation Sheet.
  • Provide training recommendations based on the results of the pre-assessment.

Entry Standard/s:

Any personnel must have one of the following:

  • Completed in-house 3G training /trade test
  • With Basic SMAW or SMAW NC II
  • Welder Qualification Test Certificate in SMAW 6G
  • COE SMAW welder with at least 1 year of experience

Duration: 1 assessment day
