Rope Works and Splicing for Ratings
This course provides theoretical and practical training to enhance trainees’ marlinspike seamanship skills, meeting the requirements prescribed in sections of Table A-II/5 of the STCW course as amended.
Training Outcome/s:
After the training, the participants must be able to:
- Perform safe working practices
- Identify the type of ropes
- Tie different type of knots
- Tie hitches
- Make bends
- Whip and seize fiber ropes
- Splice three-strand natural and synthetic fiber rope
- Splice eight-strand synthetic fiber rope
Qualifications:
All seafarers.
