Pre-test for Chief Officers Promoted to Masters
This assessment program is designed to determine the present level of knowledge, understanding, and skills of Chief Officers on the industry’s best management practices in bridge watchkeeping in preparation for their promotion to Master level.
Intended Assessment Objective/s:
After the assessments, the candidate should:
- navigate through the IALA maritime buoyage system;
- evaluate a prepared passage plan both on ECDIS and in printed form;
- forecast weather conditions;
- transmit safety and emergency messages using GMDSS radio equipment; and
- apply the intent and content of the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea.
