Mooring Winch Testing and Operational Maintenance for Engine Officers and Engine Ratings
To provide safe working practice training for safe testing and maintenance of mooring winches and associated equipment. It covers the mooring winch brake lining inspection, winch brake test, and working with the Mooring System Management Plan (MSMP) – as required by the Mooring Equipment Guidelines (MEG4) of Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF).
Training Outcome/s:
After the training, participants must be able to:
- Employ Mooring System Management Plan.
- Maintain mooring winch.
- Conduct mooring winch brake test.
- Maintain anchor windlass.
- Prepare the vessel for vetting inspection.
- Employ vetting inspection checklists.
- Managed results of vetting inspection.
Entry Standards:
Engine Officers & Engine Ratings are responsible for the maintenance and inspection of mooring equipment. Particularly in conducting brake lining inspection and performing mooring winch brake tests.
