Heavy Lift Course
The course aims to provide the trainee with a comprehensive Heavy Lift Cargo Handling and Operation knowledge and competencies.
Training Outcome/s
After the training/assessment, the participant/s shall be able to:
- Understand the procedure for the safe loading and discharging of heavy lift cargoes.
- Plan the suspension arrangement to use on a heavy lift cargo, considering the stresses involved on the lifting equipment and the vessel’s cargo gears.
- Produce the necessary documents necessary for loading and discharge of heavy lift cargoes
- Calculate the stresses acting on the stowage position of a cargo, and decide on the bedding arrangement to minimize the stresses acting on the area where the cargo is planned to be stowed.
- Calculate the forces acting on a heavy lift cargo during the voyage and the lashing arrangement to counter such forces.
- Create a lifting plan, and demonstrate how to conduct a “toolbox meeting.”
- Demonstrate loading and discharging of different types of heavy lift cargo in single and dual crane (tandem) operation.
