Bridge Watchkeeping and Refresher Training for Deck Officers
The course aims to provide deck officers with refresher and updating training to refresh and enhance their knowledge, understanding, and skills in the industry’s best management practices in bridge watchkeeping.
Training Outcome/s:
After the training, the trainees should:
- Maneuver and handle a ship in controlled conditions.
- Maintain safe navigation through the use of information from navigation equipment and systems to assist command decision-making.
- Determine and allow for compass errors.
- Plan a passage and conduct navigation.
- Forecast weather and oceanographic conditions.
- Maintain a safe navigational watch.
- Navigate through the buoyage systems of the International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (IALA); and
- Transmit and receive information using GMDSS subsystems and equipment.
