Ballast Water Management
This course aims to provide deck and engine officers with comprehensive knowledge to prevent the spread of harmful aquatic organisms from one region to another in compliance with the IMO’s established standards and safe procedures for managing and controlling the ship’s ballast water and sediments.
Training Outcome/s
After the training, participants must be able to:
- Define Water Cycle.
- Identify the BWM Structure
- Identify the BWM 2004 Annex
- Describe the updated BWM convention Implementation scheme.
- Identify the US Ballast Water Management Requirements
- Describe the Implementation Schedule for Approved Ballast Water Management Methods (33 CFR Subpart D)
