UMTC Shares Best Practices at TESDA PAMAMARISAN Calibration Conference

UMTC remains a leader in quality training and assessment, having recently been invited to conduct a learning session at the 2025 Calibration of the Pasig-Mandaluyong-San Juan (PaMaMariSan) Assessment Managers and Processing Officers conference. Chef Joey Pante, the Culinary Training and Assessment Center Manager, represented the training center at the event.

The event aimed to enhance the efficiency of Competency Assessment and Certification Program processes while ensuring strict compliance with TESDA’s established guidelines and procedures. Committed to continuous improvement, the session brought together assessment managers and processing officers from various centers to discuss best practices for upholding the integrity of assessment centers.

Liza Marie Gawe, the supervising TESDA Specialist, welcomed the program. Then, Marie Gerty Pagaran (on video), the District Director of PaMaMariSan, delivered a message to set the tone for the rest of the day.

Once the calibration started, various TESDA key people shared insights and updates on TESDA’s processes and system, including a talk from Mark Louie Pascua, PTCACS Focal, and Tona Mercado, Compliance Audit Focal, focusing on the TESDA governing body’s new updates and regulations.

Chef Joey Pante led the afternoon session by sharing UMTC’s journey in becoming the first—and still the only—TESDA Seal of Integrity awardee and highlighting the critical role of Quality Management Systems (QMS) in maintaining high standards, ensuring transparent and consistent assessment procedures, and fostering a culture of excellence within assessment centers.

He turned complex quality assurance concepts into engaging discussions and interactive learning activities, making his session stand out. Participants were encouraged to reflect on their current practices and explore innovative ways to enhance their assessment systems. The dynamic exchange of ideas enriched their understanding and sparked a strong interest in pursuing the TESDA Seal of Integrity.

By the end of his talk, several TESDA Assessment Center Managers were eager to invite UMTC again, this time for an in-depth benchmarking session on quality procedures and processes. Chef Joey Pante’s presentation left a lasting impact, inspiring many institutions to strive for higher standards in their assessment centers.

At UMTC, we take great pride in upholding excellence within our training programs and sharing our best practices with the wider industry. Our participation in such events reinforces our mission to raise the bar for training and assessment, ensuring that competency certification remains a symbol of trust and credibility.

With this remarkable engagement, UMTC once again proves that integrity, quality, and innovation are the key ingredients to shaping the future of competency-based education and assessment.
