There is a big demand for competent Electro-Technical Officers (ETO) in the industry who can ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of electrical systems and installations as the advanced electronics and technology continues to grow.
A.P Moller-Maersk A/S, one of the largest container shipping companies revived their ETO Cadet Program through their local partner, Maersk Filipinas Crewing Inc. and they took significant steps to collaborate with United Marine Training Center (UMTC), to train and produce adept ETO and be assigned onboard.
UMTC selected a number of ETO applicants based on the qualifications and requirements set by Maersk Filipinas Crewing Inc. After the rigorous selection process conducted by the two providers, the chosen trainees are currently undergoing UMTC' s ETO Cadet Program extensive training program for 4 months.
The program follows the MARINA Training Guidelines and includes additional in-house training conducted by UMTC.
This partnership between A.P. Moller-Maersk A/S, Maersk Filipinas Crewing Inc. and UMTC highlights the importance of ensuring that Electro-Technical Officers are well-trained and equipped with skills and knowledge to handle the innovative demands of the industry.
