Dutch Ambassador and Dutch Chamber of Commerce Visit United Marine Training Center: Bridging Opportunities in Maritime Excellence
On 22 January 2025, the United Marine Training Center (UMTC) hosted the Netherlands Ambassador, officials, and the President of the Dutch Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines. The visit showcased UMTC’s dedication to fostering competence and excellence among seafarers and the broader workforce while serving as a platform to exchange insights on opportunities and challenges within the maritime industry.
It was also a great opportunity for the delegates to meet prospective cadets and share inspiring words as future maritime industry officers.

The delegation members, Ambassador Marielle Geraedts, Senior Commercial Officer Patricia Sarmiento- Alvenida, and Mr. Roy Akker, President of the Dutch Chamber of Commerce, explored UMTC’s cutting- edge training environment.
The tour of the center’s comprehensive facilities included:
1. Roof Deck and Bar: A demonstration of the center’s hospitality and service training capabilities, emphasizing real-world applications in the maritime industry.
2. Culinary Training and Operations: Guests observed the meticulous training programs that hone the skills of future ship cooks and hospitality professionals.
3. Welding and Lathe Machine Operations: This facility highlighted the hands-on technical training to prepare trainees for high-precision machinery work.
4. Hotel Amenities: The delegation was introduced to UMTC’s on-site accommodations, emphasizing the center’s commitment to trainee comfort and holistic development.
5. Simulation Training: A highlight of the visit was the Dutch Ambassador's experience of simulation training on the Full Mission Bridge.
