Hazardous Materials for Officers

The course aims to enhance the competency of deck and engine officers in the safe transport and handling of hazardous materials on board.

Training Outcome/s:

After the training, the participants must be able to:

• Identify the IMDG Code structure
• Describe the updating and amendments of the IMDG Code
• Discuss the IMDG Code Classification System
• Demonstrate the use of the Dangerous Good List
• Demonstrate the correct use of Placarding, marking and labelling
• Use of Provision concerning Transport Operation
• Identify the structure of Hazardous material table (HMT)172.01
• Identify the IMSB Code lay-out
• Describe the updating and amendments of the IMSBC Code
• Explain the IMSBC Code grouping System
• Explain the Stowage and Segregation Requirements
