Crane Handling Simulator

The course aims to enhance the knowledge, understanding, and proficiency of seafarers designated to operate pedestal cranes on board ships.

Training Outcome/s:

After the training, the participants must be able to:

• Describe the mechanical parts of a ship’s cargo handling gear
• Apply the safety guidelines and precautions in operating pedestal and heavy lift cranes
• Demonstrate the proper use of hand signals
• Discuss the statutory requirements for lifting appliance
•  Examine the capacity of the ship’s lifting equipment
• Describe the different types of crane damages
• Carry out crane inspection and maintenance, and
• Demonstrate loading and unloading operation.

Qualifications

All Seafarers who will be assigned to operate pedestal cranes.
