Practical Workshop Skills
The course is designed to provide engine prospective officers and engine ratings knowledge, understanding, and skills in workshop safety, maintenance and repair at the support level.
Intended Learning Outcome/s
After the training/assessment, the participant/s shall be able to:
- Use safety precautions when working with hand and power tools used in engine repairs and maintenance;
- Demonstrate the skills in the safe and proper use of different hand tools used in the engine repairs and maintenance;
- Demonstrate the skills in measuring specific machine parts by Vernier caliper, steel rule scale, screw pitch gauge and micrometer caliper;
- Demonstrate the skills in piping work using threaded fittings;
- Demonstrate the skills in the safe and proper use of different power tools used in engine repair and maintenance;
- Interpret working drawings and sketch machine parts for fabrication purposes
