A Continuing Commitment to Excellence: World Maritime University Visits at UMTC

UMTC had the distinct honor of welcoming a delegation from the World Maritime University (WMU) as part of their annual Maritime Education and Training (MET) Field Study Program in the Philippines. This meaningful visit, led by Professor Anne Pazaver and coordinated by the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), reflects the continuing collaboration between the Philippines and WMU in advancing maritime education, training, and research on a global scale.
This annual activity remains a moment of pride for our team—an opportunity we are always happy to accommodate with enthusiasm and gratitude. The visit served as a platform for open exchange, mutual learning, and showcasing the Philippines’ commitment to being a premier provider of globally competitive maritime education.

Managing Director, Donald Bautista, personally led the presentation and comprehensive facility tour—from our roof deck training area to the ground-level workshops—providing our esteemed guests with a walk-through experience that mirrors life and operations onboard. The 10 WMU delegates, joined by UMTC Training Department heads, received firsthand insights into the realities of seafarer training in the Philippines.
During the visit, the group explored our cutting-edge simulators, engine and deck training rooms, culinary and electro-technical facilities, as well as our immersive training areas. They witnessed actual training sessions in progress, which gave them a deeper appreciation for the rigor, quality, and standards upheld in our programs.

What made this encounter more impactful was the dialogue exchanged throughout the visit—highlighting our institution’s contributions to the maritime sector and our shared vision of producing highly competent, safety-driven maritime professionals.
We thank MARINA and the World Maritime University for continuously choosing the Philippines—and institutions like ours—as part of their MET study. This visit reaffirms UMTC’s role not only as a training center but as a committed contributor to maritime excellence and global workforce development.
