Commitment to Changing Lives

On April 4, 2025, UMTC displayed its unwavering commitment to shaping brighter futures through education. With hearts full of purpose, the UMTC delegation extended a helping hand to two schools in Laguna, Philippines, turning dreams into reality through technology, resources, and genuine human connection.

Building on last year’s initiative, UMTC returned to San Crispin Elementary School in San Pablo, Laguna, a beacon of excellence, ranking 13th place as the top-performing school out of more than 4,000 schools in their region. Home to over 400 eager young minds, the school thrives academically but is challenged by technology to support its students' digital literacy. Understanding the weight of this situation, UMTC donated 18 fully equipped computer sets, bridging the digital gap and ensuring these children have access to the tools needed for a future driven by innovation.

The UMTC delegation, led by the Managing Director, Donald Bautista, and the President, Tony Galvez, together with Judie Kallio (Business Development Manager), Gerille Tuala (Marketing Manager) and Precious Vergara (Executive Assistant), worked alongside the IT department to set up the computers, making them ready for immediate use.

Upon arrival, the students, faculty, and non-teaching staff welcomed UMTC with genuine smiles and gratitude. The school’s Principal II, Ms. Theresa Kamatoy, expressed her appreciation and shared insights into the institution's development, challenges, and needs, opening the door for further support. In a touching moment, the school hosted a special program, a simple yet powerful expression of deep appreciation.

As the delegation toured the school, guided by the parents and alumni, they witnessed the community’s resilience firsthand—particularly the greenhouse project, where parents cultivate fresh greens to sustain the students’ nutritional needs.

UMTC’s commitment continued with a visit to the Grant Institute of Trade and Technology, a long-standing partner dedicated to equipping students with vocational skills. Dr. Ruel Reyes (President), Dean Elmer Castillo, and Noriel Bondad (Registrar) welcomed the delegates to the institution.

Recognizing the need for improved instructional resources, UMTC donated two LED screens to enhance the educational experience. This contribution aims to make learning more engaging and accessible for students as they prepare for on-the-job training and future onshore and offshore careers.

UMTC also identified another critical need: proper training in industrial machinery. To address this, the training center pledged to send a Fitter Machinist expert to assist in setting up and operating five donated lathe machines earlier this year. These machines will bridge theoretical learning and hands-on industry experience, giving students invaluable exposure to real-world applications.

As UMTC continues to expand its reach in education, its vision remains clear: to uplift communities, empower the next generation, and transform lives through learning. With every computer set installed, every LED screen mounted, and every lathe machine operated, a student is given the opportunity to dream bigger, reach higher, and succeed.
